My Cat

With the fast paced life whirling around me I have found great peace in watching my cat. He doesn't let much bother him. He knows that if he meows loudly enough he will be fed, petted, or let outdoors for a romp around the back yard. It doesn't matter to him that you are sitting in a chair wringing your hands about whatever life event that has you all worked up. He just sees a lap for him to lounge on and hands that need to give him a massage.

I will watch him stalk a bug with as much intensity as he would a mouse. He will position himself for the kill and pounce with confidence he will succeed. He will proudly bring his bounty to me to admire and compliment him on his ability.

My cat doesn't worry about his lineage. He just knows he is here to be loved and fed. There aren't any papers stating who sired him. He is a stray with street smarts that allowed him to stay alive long enough to bring him to my door.

He shed his home in the bushes outdoors for a more upscale residence with his own food bowl and a bed anywhere he chooses to recline. No longer does he have to sit out in the rain, but can sit in the window sill watching the drops splatter against the window.

He came to my door only wanting to be fed. He didn't know that he would bring tranquility to a stressed household. That watching him would teach me to take each day in stride. All of life's problems will work out. I only need to stretch, purr, and expect someone to wait on me.

The sun is shining at my house for the first time in about a week. I was beginning to wonder if I would ever see it again. I am not much of a winter fan anyway. Thank goodness I live where it is warm most of the time.
I am still fighting a cold, cough, and sore throat. This time it has really knocked me down. I don't remember when I have felt so lousy. My raspy voice is getting better. Soon maybe I won't sound like a chain smoker.
I am getting back to my exercise routine. Since I am feeling better there just aren't any more reasons to not get back on my treadmill. I splurged on every food imaginable while on my recent cruise. My clothes are fitting a little tighter so it is time to get busy.
Well, I will make this blog short. Since I just admitted my need for exercise I guess I better get off my behind and get with it. I have a window next to my treadmill and that sunshine will make it easier to trudge on. Who am I kidding? Sunshine or not I am still taking a walk to nowhere! So off I go!!

Party effects

Here I am after my cruise with a raspy voice and a cold. I just got back from the Caribbean and I am experiencing the after effects of catching a cold coupled with all the noise making I made on board. I sound like I am a chain smoker with emphysema.
I try to see the humor in it, but the coughing hasn't been funny. I knew I was destined to get something when we went on an excursion to the Black River in Jamaica. One of the members of my group was constantly blowing his nose. I was trapped inside a bus with the germs as we barreled through the Jamaican countryside.
Thank goodness the cold didn't hit me until my trip was over. It didn't keep me from having fun on vacation. I am so happy about that.
I have been going over vacation pictures and that helps as I hack and wipe my nose. My trip went way too fast. I am already looking forward to my next outing.
Well, I guess I better get off here and look for another box of tissues. I am getting better. Just not fast enough. Guess it is the price I pay for having so much fun!!
