Collecting Silhouettes

Have you noticed
how the sun
collects silhouettes
at dusk?

In the bright colored
dying of day wings pool
in ink spot flight,
leaves turn ebony,
and cityscapes charcoal
streets with shadows.

With the final pealing light
mortar, stone, blood, and bone
become a union of phantoms
pressed against melting wax.
