NaPoWriMo 2013 (playing catch up) Day 12 ~ Melted Crows

Art by Chelsea Bednar

A canvas of melted crows
and echoes of Poe
hangs as a dark
reminder nightmares
deceive with promises
of nevermore.

Sunlight orange
will not deter
the haunting that waits
between awake and asleep.

Crucifix and hope
lay as odd bedfellows
with insomnia
as they watch night
walk across bloodshot eyes.

Your writing has the most beautiful musical notes. They may be somber notes at present, but they retain their full musicality.
Every catch-up poem is a delight to read.
One thing though: unlike the body after fatigue from physical exertion, the brain doesn't recuperate overnight.
Don't overtax yourself and underestimate the demands of writing so many poems in a short space of time.
Sorry if I sound pedantic here :-)

!! I do see a crucifix seemingly struggling - almost being attacked. Really like the echoes of Poe... Glad you found the time for this challenge. A HUGE thank you.

This has awesome imagery, and I love the internal rhythm. Great interpretation.

Dark, yet beautiful... I especially like the ending with night and bloodshot eyes.

Can't help but feel the anxious unable to do anything about it because it's the middle of the night insomnia.
